About
Founded by Robert Dixon, Andrew Tallent, Stephanie Cass and Scott Viscardi in 2021, Kinda Vague Records is an independent record label based in Denver, CO. It began as a music industry interface for the founders’ bands Pinetree Janitorial Service and Circles We Draw. Both are indie rock bands, but since that genre has come to encompass so many styles and sounds we’ve adopted the term “retro vague” to better describe the overarching sound. “Retro vague” blends identifiable influences from the 1960’s through the 2000’s while still adhering to modern production values and standards.
It soon became apparent that there were other quality artists in Colorado and surrounding areas that fit this description (vague as it may be). Talented bands and people producing amazing art but not getting much notice or making any money. We get it. Not a whole lot of A&R scouts in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, or Utah. And yet, we have some artists out here making some truly great music and it has since become our mission to identify them, connect them to their audience, and make sure they are fairly compensated for their work.
We are currently in discussions with several exciting bands to do exactly that, and are hoping to release a lot of new music in 2022. Subscribe to our newsletter to get notified of new releases as it all happens..
